Question:
Why do many teachers write and focus their instructions on the three lowest levels of blooms taxonomy? It is an appropriate emphasis? Does it help or hurt the learners?
Answer:
The lowest three levels of Bloom's taxonomy are remembering, understanding, and applying. Which is simply recall of information , understanding the context and value of this information, and then using to solve basic problems. So it isnt fully understanding the text, just understanding how and where to use the material. I think that many teachers focus on emphasizing these three levels is because they are the easiest to teach, learn and test over. Most of the information is either easily forgotten after a short period of time or simply regurgitated without a second thought.
